Our History

The Landgraff family has been in the tree cutting business since 1958 when Dutch elm disease (DED) hit Windsor, Ontario, and Louis Landgraff started up a business to combat the problem. David Landgraff was one of the sons who worked summers and every Saturday for the family business. In 1981, in the depths of a recession, David Landgraff decided to open up his own family business after attending Humber College where he studied arboriculture and achieved I.S.A. certification, Ontario utility arborist certification, and became an Ontario licensed pesticide exterminator and operator.

During the early years, we hired employees as needed and we travelled to get work. Our team worked many long hours, often 12-hour days, and 6-day workweeks, to establish and grow the business. We continued to gain expertise and purchase superior tree care equipment to provide more services to our customers.

In 1987, with hard work and determination, we designed and built a new facility at EC Row Expressway and Jefferson Boulevard in Windsor, Ontario, where our office and shop remains today. We have developed a steady and loyal customer base as a result of our quality work and dedication to customer service. We work year-round in an industry that typically shuts down in the winter months. During the winters we work on utility tree trimming contracts and assist the city of Windsor through contract work and snow plowing.

We are proud of our experienced staff of loyal and devoted employees and of our extensive equipment including a fleet of 16 specialized trucks, multiple chippers, stumpers, loaders, and cranes to meet the needs of our customers. 

 

Our Community

Landgraff Tree Service happily supports organizations in our community as we value philanthropic efforts that enrich the lives of many.

We support Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex Inc., who mobilizes volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. We are usually the first contractor on-site to trim or remove trees for new housing development.

Landgraff Tree Service is a long-time sponsor of children through World Vision Canada (since 1989). World Vision Canada partners with community-based organizations and churches for the peace and well-being of children, families, and communities affected by poverty.

We support The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc., who assists, educates, and empowers those who are affected by or are caring for persons with life-threatening illnesses.
